“Many years ago, more than a thousand, in my native Tarifa, a little boy wanted to photograph the wind with a box of matches…” With these words, Joan Guerrero opens the film The Matchbox, directed by his fellow photographer David Airob. A vital conversation springs from within: Guerrero tells us of his way of seeing the world, existence, the profession, friendship, journalistic ethics, and cinematic referents. In this journey through time, human values merge with the essence of photography, but there is always room for some poetry and for the stories the photographer has accumulated in the course of his eventful life.
